Okay there's a lot going on in this blog, b/c after this, I need to take care of a bunch of stuff today.
Friday night was Kristi's debut. I wasn't at the actual event for very long, but while I was there, I had a lot of fun. Kristi's family is great, her dad and her brother Kevin really made the party quite hilarious :) Most of my time was spent taking pictures of Kristi prepping. Thank you Ate Joan for letting me help you. I hope the pictures came out alright lol. I think we got a bunch of good pix, but I must humbly say I learned a few lessons (But please know you can still hire me okay? I'm pouring out my heart and soul here don't hold it against me HAHAHA jk ):
1) Time flies. You may think you have a lot of time to take pictures, but suddenly it's all gone and you're trying to make it to choir practice on time LOL. Take as many pictures as you can, as early as you can LOL :)
2) Flash can be good, but it can also be bad. Not to mention, it takes a lot of time to set up and take down. Gotta account for that. Also, make a check list of all the equipment you have brought.
3) Me and Fred have found that for now, it would be best to keep our posing book handy. Something we can easily refer to if in the moment, we can't remember what we thought of beforehand. Even though I have thought it out ahead of time, I realize my mind sometimes goes blank when I'm taking pictures (I guess nervousness lol). Sometimes I need a reminder.
4) People are so nice. I know I always thank Ate Joan, but I constantly have realizations about just how much she has been helping me grow. I know I'm still learning, I still haven't gotten this whole photography thing down to a system yet.. but she puts her trust in me to help her out and I just don't want to let her down. Thank you for your patience with me Ate Joan, for taking me under your wing and for always encouraging me.
So with that, here are some pictures. More will come :)
Last night, Fred & I decided we would dab into high-key lighting. For this type of lighting, emphasis is more on highlights than shadows. The less shadows, the better. This kind of lighting gives off more of an upbeat mood, probably would be a good type of lighting for kids being silly and having fun. So we brought out the white background, and took a few shots. Few meaning like 50 or 100 lol.
Let me just say I am a bit sad b/c we dismantled our foosball table to make more room for our 'studio' HAHAHA. I think we've decided to just leave our flash set up all the time in case we want to take some pictures. Practice practice practice!
...Foosball table, you are awesome. We will never forget all the fun times we had together beating Fred. We will definitely bring you back if we get a bigger place HAHAHA..
Anyway, we are still getting the hang of how to best white-out the background.. but we're almost there I suppose hehe.
I hate how I never have make up on whenever we practice. But it's like 10 pm, who puts on make up that late only to wash it off an hour later? So bear with my face :)
LOL at my husband hahaha
Also, we got our first set of business cards in the mail! Coolbeans! We tried out www.vistaprint.com b/c they were having a good deal on cards. I got the most basic one b/c I wanted to see how it could come out. I'm satisfied and will definitely order the glossy premium card next time hehe. But for now, this is a start, and only cost me like 10 bucks haha :)
Oh and we saw a movie on Netflix last night, it was called Gattaca. It was actually really good I think! In the sci-fi realm about a futuristic world in which your destiny is determined the moment you are born based on your genetic make up. You either are a valid or an invalid. Invalid means something as simple as you will have eye glasses. Okay I say watch it. It has Jude Law in it. That should be motivation enough. But if you need more people, there's Ethan Hawke and Uma Thurman.
Okay today is actually a busy day, but I know once I take my first step, it will be easy sailing. So buh bye for now!
You are funny and very welcome!! You're family and I want to be sure I help my family as much as I can! Okay we need to take more fun photos!! You're getting better and better everyday! Be sure to hire me when you get a ton of work! Heheh :-)
